What is a Core Group?

Any time you host an event, always invite your core group first.

At the very first party that I ever hosted in New York City, my friends from college formed what I call a core group.

A core group is your reliable and supportive friends and colleagues.

They already know and like you. You can ask them for a favor or invite them to something without overthinking it.

Because you already have a relationship, they’re likely to say yes to your invitation. That’s a great core group.

Why You Need a Core Group for Your Party

Your core group will be an essential piece of your party puzzle.

They’ll show up and make you look good. They’ll laugh at your jokes and be your party cheerleaders.

They’re people with whom you feel comfortable.

They’re also your support team and safety net.

They’re the backbone of your guest list.

After your core group confirms their attendance, you can move on to inviting your Great Guests.
